Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, he finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
