The Belarusian player concluded the tour with an notable twenty-three to three Grand Slam win-loss record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight season.

The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Year of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka concluded the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and picked up a historic £11m in tournament winnings.

She garnered almost eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a new level".

  • Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five championship matches.
